Community Participation

The Hamilton program focuses on each individual’s journey to discover their potential and to fulfill their goals through fellowship with friends, recreation and leisure activities, and creating opportunities for new experiences. This is a fully wheelchair accessible location.

Activities include:

  • Recreational and leisure activities include use of a gym, sound board, crafts, and games
  • Musical instruments and singing
  • Theme days
  • Pet therapy
  • Sensory activities
  • Learning opportunities for computers and life skills
  • Music therapy
  • Trips to local events and attractions such as Blue Jays, apple orchard, Port Dalhousie and the zoo
  • Employment supports

Hours of Operation

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday: 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Community Participation

Halton Community Participation provides stimulating and exciting activities for adults of all ages. We are committed to accommodating and supporting people who have a variety of interests and challenges. This location is wheelchair accessible, with support available for those who require lifts and/or transfers related to providing personal care.

Activities include:

  • Physical activities include swimming (which takes place on-site in a therapeutic heated pool) and ‘Be Fit’ exercise program
  • Our Creative Expression arts and craft program, tailored for adults of varying abilities that encourage people to explore the artist within
  • Community scavenger hunts
  • Sensory participation activities
  • Volunteer and employment opportunities in the community

Hours of Operation:

Monday to Thursday: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Community Participation

Christian Horizons Community Participation Supports offer opportunities for adults over 18 who have a developmental disability to engage in skill development, community involvement, volunteer opportunities and social and recreational activities. The Waterloo Community Participation Program provides both community and location-based opportunities in the Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo area. We create person-specific schedules based on personal goals, supports needed and available funding.

Activities include:

  • Teaching skills such as sign language, cooking, money management, and safety skills
  • Recreational activities such as bowling, swimming, drumming, music time, and Zumba
  • Employment/volunteer opportunities with Mennonite Central Committee, Meals on Wheels, and the local Humane Society
  • Community involvement such as visiting conservation areas, the library, walking community trails, going to St. Jacob’s market as well as special trips to attractions such as Medieval times, CNE, etc.
